Unit45, the intermodal container manufacturing company, has teamed up with Globe Tracker International in a deal to develop smart refrigerated containers.

Globe Tracker International is a company specialising in supply chain visibility and will begin working relations shortly with Unit45, which manufactures 45-foot containers.

The new containers will combine data from the refrigeration unit with data collected from wireless sensors reporting condition and security variables from both inside and outside the container.

Globetracker said in a statement that the compilation of this data offers a true picture of the cargo"in"transit and reduces risk and loss across the intermodal space. The companies intend to display these capabilities at the Intermodal Asia 2015 show in Shanghai in March.
