Port of Antwerp-Bruges strengthen ties with India during Belgian economic mission
Port of Antwerp-Bruges participated in the Belgian economic mission to India. With its fast-growing economy, strong industrial capacity, and focus on renewable energy, India is becoming an increasingly important strategic partner for the port and European industry.
India plays a key role in various sectors. Zeebrugge, the world’s largest car port, is emerging as a key logistics partner for Indian companies in the automotive sector. In IT and innovation, India ranks among the world’s leaders. Like the port, Indian companies are investing significantly in the energy transition.
During the mission, Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT), Green H2 India, and the Belgian Hydrogen Council signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This agreement seeks to promote the production of renewable hydrogen and other alternative energy solutions worldwide.
The port has strong trade relations with India, emphasising knowledge exchange. The JNPA-Antwerp Port Training and Consultancy Foundation and the Antwerp/Flanders Port Training Centre (APEC) provide training in port management and logistics to Indian port workers. Port of Antwerp-Bruges International also helps local organisations, including the Indian Institute of Technology Madras and the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port in Kolkata, in advancing port projects.
During the mission, Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT) and Port of Antwerp-Bruges organised several events, including the 'Excellence Through Sangam' gala, to emphasise and reinforce the strong cooperation between the two countries.
