Maersk Line has said in a release that its performance on the new Asia-Europe network shows top quartile reliability above 90 per cent. And over the coming months, customers will experience further improvements in the competitiveness of its product.

Its network review has allowed Maersk Line to improve the allocation of capacity on the Asia to Europe services. Going forward, the average vessel size on the AE9 service, operating on the Asia-Mediterranean trade, will be reduced from 9,500-TEU to 6,500-TEU”with the reduction in capacity mainly impacting Mediterranean. This development will meet both current and anticipated demands, the release pointed out.

Furthermore, the adjustments to the network will provide the line with a more seasonal network, which will allow it to adjust capacity to demand without impacting the product and reliability offered to customers.

The changes to the network will apply equally to both VSA partners on the East-West network, and are anticipated to be fully effective by the middle of Q3 2015.

Maersk Line is currently putting the finishing touches on the revised rotations and full service details. These are subject to regulatory requirements, and will be communicated as soon as possible, the release disclosed.
