Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah Port processed its first export cargo comprising 54 containers of polymer material of Rabigh Refining and Petrochemical Company, or PetroRabigh, destined to Singapore.

King Abdullah Port will enable PetroRabigh to lower logistics costs and reach global markets faster, as it is located close to the headquarters of the company's operations, PetroRabigh's CEO Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Suwailem told daily ArabNews yesterday. Besides, King Abdullah Port will help reduce congestion at Saudi Arabia's Jeddah Islamic Port.

King Abdullah Port, located at King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), is Saudi Arabia's newest port facility and the first privately-owned harbour in the country, according to the website of the port's developer, Ports Development Company (PDC). PDC is a joint venture of conglomerate Saudi Binladin Group and UAE-based real estate developer Emaar Properties.

King Abdullah Port comprises a container terminal, a roll-on/roll-off (Ro/Ro) and vehicle terminal, and a bulk and general cargo terminal.
