IAG Cargo brings the B787 to Philadelphia and Calgary
Businesses supported by IAG Cargo's North American operations are set to benefit from the introduction of the next-generation Boeing 787 Dreamliner on two key routes: Philadelphia and Calgary. Businesses wishing to ship goods between these airports and IAG Cargo's hub at London Heathrow will benefit from the additional capacity afforded by the B787, bringing the total available capacity on each flight to 14 tons.
One of the most innovative aircraft in operation today, its advanced hold air conditioning makes the B787 ideal for supporting the growing trade in temperature-controlled pharmaceuticals, serviced by IAG Cargo¿s industry leading Constant Climate product. This capability will be of particular benefit to the growing pharmaceuticals trade on the London-Calgary route.
Joe Le Beau, regional commercial manager North America, at IAG Cargo, commented: "This announcement marks the latest stage in our fleet modernisation programme, which has already seen us deploy next-generation aircraft on key routes on our network including Singapore, Hyderabad and Austin. When complete, this will make us one of the best-equipped cargo carriers in the industry and will enable us to further improve the Premium products we offer our customers, in particular the strategically important Constant Climate product."
One of IAG Cargo's twice daily flights to Philadelphia is already operated by the B787, while the second service continues to be operated by the B777. The route will revert to being serviced by B767 and B777 aircraft from the start of the winter schedule. In addition, the daily service to Calgary is due to be served by the B787 later this year.
