FSRU owned by MOL received first LNG for Hong Kong
Mitsui O.S.K Lines, Ltd. owns MOL FSRU Terminal (Hong Kong) Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of MOL. FSRU has successfully accepted LNG for the first time in Hong Kong during its commissioning for an LNG import project in Hong Kong. The project will soon enter commercial operation and will supply gas to a power plant in Hong Kong. The name of the FSRU will be changed to "Bauhinia Spirit" in the future.
The FSRU will be chartered to Hong Kong LNG Terminal Limited, which was jointly established by CLP Power Hong Kong Limited and The Hongkong Electric Company, Limited. It will operate in the South Seas of Hong Kong (east of the Soko Islands) and will supply natural gas to CLP Power's Black Point Power Station and HK Electric's Llama Power Station. In addition to operating the FSRU, MOL FSRU Terminal (Hong Kong) Limited will provide jetty maintenance and operation services and port-related services.
Through this project, MOL will be the first in Hong Kong to import LNG, and by significantly increasing the ratio of gas-fired power generation with low CO2 emissions, will achieve the decarbonization and atmospheric environment improvement targets set by the Hong Kong government . contribute to the achievement Furthermore, by utilizing the knowledge and expertise acquired in this project, we aim to be more actively involved in various value chains from upstream to downstream of the clean energy industry, not limited to transportation services.
