DP World Nhava Sheva once again handles longest vessel MSC Susanna
DP World's Nhava Sheva International Container Terminal (NSICT) has once again reinforced its position as the leading container terminal in India, setting a new benchmark for the industry. There was a highlight for the terminal, as well as the port authority, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust, with NSICT handling the MSC Susanna " the longest ship ever to berth at India's largest container gateway port.
Alongside the vessel there was a cake cutting ceremony to mark the longest container vessel of MSC at NSICT. The function started with the cake cutting ceremony by Capt GojKovic Nenad, Master of the Vessel, Mr N N Kumar, Chairman, JNP and Capt Deepak Tewari, CEO, MSC India. Also present were Capt Anil Singh, Senior VP & MD, DP World Subcontinent and Mr Ajay Singh, CEO, DP World Nhava Sheva.
The ceremony was held in the august presence of Capt. Deepak Tewari, CEO of MSC India, Capt Anil Singh, Senior Vice President & Ind Sub-continent, DP World, Mr Ajay Singh, CEO, NSICT, Mr N N Kumar, Chairman, JNPT, Mr Ashish Kumar Bose, Chief Manager (Traffic), JNPT and other Senior Officials from DP World and JNP will be present to grace the memorable occasion.
Mr Ajay Singh presented a bouquet and memento to the Master of the vessel. Capt Deepak Tewari presented bouquet and memento to the Master of the vessel. He also presented bouquet to Capt Anil Singh, Mr Ajay Singh, Mr K P Unnikrishnan, President MANSA and Capt B S Kumar, Harbour Master, JNP.
Capt Anil Singh presented bouquet to JNP Chairman and also presented bouquet and memento to Capt Deepak Tewari.
Mr N N Kumar, Chairman, JNP while addressing the gathering said It is a proud moment for us at Nhava Sheva, as DP World are setting a new benchmarks and we congratulate them for this achievement.
Capt Anil Singh said It is a historic moment and day for us at NSICT. It was a humble beginning when we started our journey and today we have set benchmark for the industry.
We aim and looking for 14000 TEUs ship in the future.
JNP carry 50 per cent of the nations cargo and we congratulate JN Port for their tremendous achievements over the years, he added.
Capt Deepak Tewari expressed that MSC Susanna, the longest vessel berthed at India's largest container gateway port at NSICT and given us an opportunity we will deliver it.

The MSC Susanna is deployed on the Mediterranean Shipping Company's / Shipping Corporation of India's ISES Service bound for Europe. At 336.66m, the MSC Susanna is the longest vessel to traverse the Mumbai channel, and is a testament to the efforts and commitment by the Port Authority in improving the marine infrastructure at JN Port with its dredging project.
NSICT was set up in 1997 and is India's first private-public partnership in the ports sector. DP World operates five container terminals in India, in Mumbai (JNPT), Chennai, Cochin, Mundra and Vishakhapatnam and supports a significant portion of India's international containerised trade.
