Diana Shipping reports financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2017
Diana Shipping Inc., a global shipping company specializing in the ownership of dry bulk vessels, reported a net loss of $26.5 million and net loss attributed to common stockholders of $27.9 million for the first quarter of 2017, compared to a net loss of $31.4 million and net loss attributed to common stockholders of $32.8 million reported in the first quarter of 2016.
Time charter revenues were $31.3 million for the first quarter of 2017, compared to $30.8 million for the same period of 2016. The increase in time charter revenues was due to increased average time charter rates that we achieved for our vessels during the quarter and increased ownership days resulting from the enlargement of our fleet
