DB Schenker and BMW cooperate for high quality service in Japan
To guarantee seamless distribution of spare parts and to improve the overall service quality, BMW entrusted DB Schenker with the operation of a new warehouse on Japan's main island of Honshu.
Schenker-Seino Co., Ltd. combines the global network and know how of DB Schenker with the domestic state-of-the-art infrastructure of Seino Transport and is one of the major transportation and logistics service providers in Japan.
Under the name Osaka Regional Distribution Center, the new facility provides all BMW dealers in the Kansai area and beyond with spare parts. Inbound restocking parts are received from the existing distribution center near Tokyo via multiple daily trucks, which are also managed by Schenker-Seino.
The warehouse is located at the southern tip of Kyoto, away from the coastline and 15 meters above sea level, reducing so the tsunami risk. Furthermore, it is close to the Daini Keihan Highway, making it accessible and convenient for the automotive company dealers. This dedicated facility has a total area of 8,179 square meters and is completely fenced and secured by one of the leading security companies in Japan. The warehouse is to receive ISO certification within the first year of operation.
We are delighted and excited for having been selected by BMW as their partner to provide even better services in Japan to dealers and ultimately to BMW drivers. This new Regional Distribution Center is further testimony of Schenker-Seino's capabilities in automotive logistics, says Herbert Wilhelm, President and CEO of Schenker-Seino Co., Ltd.
