Daewoo Shipbuilding bags US$1.8 bln order
Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., a South Korean shipbuilder, said Wednesday that it has clinched a US$1.8 billion order to build 11 large-sized container vessels.
Under the deal with Maersk Line, a unit of shipping and oil group A.P. Moller-Maersk, Daewoo Shipbuilding will deliver the 19,630-TEU (twenty-foot equivalent) vessels by 2018, the company said in a statement.
The deal also includes an option to build six more vessels, according to Daewoo Shipbuilding.
With the latest deal, Daewoo Shipbuilding has secured $3.51 billion worth of deals for 23 ships so far this year.
