CMA CGM installs a 20,000 m2 logistics storehouse in the Bekaa valley in Lebanon
The CMA CGM group, a world leader in maritime transport, opened the first logistics storehouse in Lebanon in the heart of the Bekaa valley in Taanayel. The Group is continuing its commitment to the economic development of the country by offering a tailor-made logistics solution dedicated to the needs of reefer customers in the richest agricultural, commercial and industrial region of Lebanon.
With a total area of 20,000 m2, the new CMA CGM logistics storehouse in Taanayel allows the storage of 1,000 empty containers (TEUs). Thanks to this new facility, the CMA CGM Group responds to requests for import/export from Lebanon's largest agricultural area.
This logistics solution also facilitates the recovery of empty containers, thus reducing costs and saving considerable time.
Located 50 km from the port of Beirut and 124 km from the port of Tripoli, the logistics storehouse of Taanayel of the CMA CGM Group is also at the crossroads of the Lebanese coast and Damascus (in Syria) on one of the most important trade routes in the Middle-East.
This location in the Bekaa valley is strategic for the import and export of fruit and vegetables as well as for other products for Arab countries including Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
CMA CGM’s Beirut office employs close to 200 people, maintains a strong relationship with Lebanon and wishes to continue to support its economic development.
Joe Dakkak, General Manager of CMA CGM Lebanon, affirmed: “CMA CGM is constantly innovating its service offerings for the Lebanese market and the opening of the new Taanayel dry port brings us closer, creating new opportunities to serve our Bekaa clients. We have always believed in our country’s potential, and this new investment is a true example of our faith in Lebanon’s economic development”.
