cargo-partner expands its presence in Spain
Not even one year after setting foot in Spain with an office in Barcelona, cargo-partner has now opened a second Spanish office near Madrid Barajas Airport. The cargo-partner teams at both offices offer comprehensive air, sea and road transport solutions.
Following the establishment of cargo-partner’s branch office in Barcelona in September 2022, the logistics provider has added an office in Madrid in response to growing demand from local customers. Oriol Asturgo, Managing Director of cargo-partner in Spain, explained: “As the capital city of Spain and a major economic center in Europe, Madrid attracts a diverse range of industries and multinational corporations. Its well-developed infrastructure and excellent connectivity made it an ideal choice for our ongoing expansion in Western Europe. The new office provides a modern environment for our employees, a welcoming atmosphere for our customers, and the perfect location for us to continue to deliver personalized solutions to our clients and partners.”
Speeding up air and sea freight shipments to the Americas
Spain is an excellent hub for air and sea freight, allowing the logistics provider to expedite shipments from Europe to the Americas. “We have chosen a location close to Madrid Barajas Airport, which is second in Europe in terms of capacity and fifth in terms of traffic. In combination with its good relations with Latin America, it is the main gateway for air export from Madrid to the Latin American countries,” said Oriol Asturgo.
Additionally, Madrid is well-connected to key ports, such as Valencia and Algeciras, facilitating the movement of goods between the city and maritime trade networks. cargo-partner provides regular sea freight services between Spain and Latin America, including a bi-monthly LCL solution between Barcelona and Honduras as well as Panama.
As of June 2023, cargo-partner’s subsidy in Spain has obtained IATA membership, another important milestone for the company’s presence in the country. Currently, the team consists of 23 employees, and cargo-partner plans to grow both in Madrid and Barcelona. The local branch has special expertise in pharmaceutical products, fashion and retail as well as automotive.
The Austrian-based logistics provider has had a very strong presence in Central and Eastern Europe, but has recently substantially invested in expanding its footprint in Western Europe. The company has long established branch offices in Germany, Benelux, Sweden and Ireland, but has more recently expanded its network into the UK, Italy and Spain, ensuring cargo-partner is now represented in the most important markets in the region.
