Arriva Shipping expands its fleet with an additional dry cargo vessel
Arriva Shipping has entered into an agreement with the Chinese shipyard Jiangsu SOHO Marine Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. to construct a new dry cargo vessel for its fleet. The vessel, designated with building number SH008, is scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of 2026.
The vessel will join its sister vessels, MV “Nor Viking” (delivered in 2022) and SH007 (due in December 2025), as part of the company’s fleet renewal and growth strategy.
“This investment aligns with our goal of modernising the fleet and reducing our carbon footprint,” says CEO & Partner Sindre Matre. “SH008 builds on the success of Nor Viking and its hybrid technology, further enhancing our efficiency and sustainability.”
With a cargo capacity of 8,000 deadweight tons and a 2 MW battery hybrid system, SH008 will reduce emissions and energy use while meeting strict environmental regulations and customer demands for efficient logistics.
Norwegian and European partners will supply key project components, including design and the hybrid package, strengthening regional value chains.
This order confirms Arriva Shipping’s position as a leader in sustainable maritime transport.
