Aer Lingus announces major long-haul expansion
Aer Lingus announced significant expansion to its transatlantic route offering. From 2014, the airline will now operate five flights per week from Dublin to San Francisco. A new Dublin to Toronto route will offer a daily service in the summer and up to four flights per week in the winter. Flights from Shannon to Boston and New York will almost double in frequency and will return to an all-year-round service.
The new San Francisco route represents a significant business opportunity for Aer Lingus Cargo, providing direct access between Ireland and the West Coast of the US.
Commenting on the announcement, Peter O'Neill, Director of Cargo, Aer Lingus, said: With the addition of San Francisco to our route network, we can offer our shipper and freight forwarder customers direct access between Ireland and the U.S west coast, with road feeder connections to major U.S. cities from San Diego to Seattle via San Francisco. Alongside our existing operations to Boston, New York, Chicago and Orlando, we have the capacity in place for year round, reliable air freight service between Ireland and the US.
